Vacation update
*waves hello* Hi there, I'm back. Well, for a week - until we head off to Vegas next week! Busy times.

The weather at the cottage started out hot, then got really hot, then got really hot and humid, then extremely hot and humid, followed by severe thunderstorms with tornado-warnings-in-effect. The storms on Friday knocked out power over a goodly portion of south-eastern Ontario and Quebec and we were not immune. The worst part was having to boil lake water for dishes between meals - so time consuming! We coped with the heat by jumping into the lake at every opportunity. We even dragged the dog in with us - he was very nervous at first (remembering I think our late winter adventure falling through the ice) - but by the last day he was jumping in there with the rest of us. Some cute pictures on my Facebook album here.

I'd planned to work on my smallvillebbang story while away but the best laid plans gang aft agley. First, my laptop broke (kind of - i can still use it, i just can't close the top anymore - long story). So I asked my sister to bring hers, but it wouldn't read the Smallville disks I'd brought along for 'research'. So my sister had to prove it was the disks that were at fault, not her laptop, so she went out and rented some movies. And the rented disks worked of course, so her best friend's kids spent the last few days monopolizing the laptop to watch movies. Poor things, they get so easily bored without the internet and TV.

Hope y'all are doing well and the heat wave didn't hit you quite as hard.

Safety First!

Did you get the safety vest after the Ice escapade? So Cute!

I just got my power back after 21 hours with it gone and out. I commiserate with you! But you were roughing it more than I. I could still use tap water. ;-)

Have fun in Vegas!

Isn't he cute? And yes, we got the vest just recently because we were afraid he might panic if he came boating with us and fell in.

Yikes, 21 hours! We were lucky to 'only' loose it for 12. The worst part was having to stay out of the water during the thunderstorms, so it was hard to keep busy.

I love the doggie life jacket!

It's been a wild summer, between the heat and the storms. Glad you have your power back!

When I got back, the power had been out here too - just long enough to cause everything in the fridge to go off - the smell was incredible.

I'm kind of jealous. I'd really like to rough it a little without electricity or internet. Obviously, that will happen on the odd day or so this summer as I have the worst electric company where I live. But it wouldn't have the festive feel of doing it with a nice group of people. Alas, my California friends aren't the type. The next time time I'm in PA, I'd like to spend a few days camping.

The heat's not bad where I am. We've only had a few hot days. :)

Loosing the power is kind of nice when you have to scramble for other stuff to do - until sundown when you just can't see well.
